Journal of “Computacion y Sistemas (CyS)” seeks original manuscripts in English/Spanish for a Special Issue on Practical Solutions to Combinatorial Optimization Problems to appear in the issue of April-July 2011. CyS is a quarterly published journal committed to circulate original scientific and technological contributions in the field of Computer Science.

Combinatorial optimization is a topic in theoretical computer science and applied mathematics that consists of finding the least-cost solution to a mathematical problem of the real life in which each solution is associated with a numerical cost. Combinatorial Optimization Problems (COPs) can be viewed as searching for the best element of some set of discrete items, therefore, in principle, any sort of search algorithm or meta-heuristic can be used to solve them. Some related areas with COPs are: A. The design of networks, the minimization of route cost and others. B. The storage and recovery, the maximization of the distribution of packets to obtain lower costs to storage and others. C. The scheduling of manufacturing process, project scheduling, and others.

The goal pursued in this Special Issue is to create a volume of recent work on advances in all aspects of solves Combinatorial Optimization Problems. The particular topics which are of interest for this special journal issue include, but are not limited to:

* New Combinatorial Optimization Problems (COPs).
* Meta-heuristics and heuristics to solve COPs.
* Evolutionary Algorithms to solve COPs.
* Neural Networks to solve COPs.
* Hybrid Algorithms to solve COPs.
* Applied Informatics to solve COPs.
* Bio-Inspired Algorithms to solve COPs.
* Artificial Intelligence to solve COPs.
* Software Engineering to solve COPs.

Papers to be submitted to CyS must not have been previously published or simultaneously submitted to other journals, conferences, etc. If the paper has already been presented, submitted or published elsewhere, the guest editors must be notified about it. The submission must be anonymous, with no author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or obvious references. The length of the submission should be at most 12 pages including bibliography and appendices. It should use at least 10-points fonts and have reasonable sized margins.

GraphViz para visualizar ontologías en Protégé febrero 22, 2010

Nivel: Básico

Una manera sencilla de poder visualizar el contenido de una ontología en Protégé es gracias a los plugings que incorpora. Si bien la versión 4 de este editor ya incluye una poderosa versión de plugin OWLViz, los usuarios que por distintos motivos seguimos trabajando con la versión 3.4 necesitamos realizar algunes ajustes que comento a continuación.

Primero que nada, es necesario instalar en nuestro equipo Graphviz, un software open source para la visualización de grafos.

Después editamos el archivo protege.properties (se encuentra en el directorio raíz de donde hayamos instalado nuestra versión de Protégé). Luego agregamos (o modificamos, según sea el caso) la siguiente ínea:

dot.command=C\:\\Program\ Files\\ATT\Graphviz\\bin\\dot

donde la ruta deberá corresponder a la ubicación de donde se encuentre el archivo dot.exe (dentro del directorio donde se instaló el software de Graphviz).

Hecho esto, voila!! ya se podrá utilizar plugins en Protégé 3.4 para la visualización de sus felices ontologías.

Aparte de funcionar con OWLViz, también recomiendo probar con OntoViz, otro plugin que nos permitirá algo parecido (y que también hace uso de Graphviz).
